Natural Peanut Butter

2 1/4 cups of peanuts (about 360 grams)… China friends, I use these ones, but any will work.

2 teaspoons oil (optional)

salt to taste

Directions and Notes:

Add the peanuts to the food processor and process for five to seven minutes until peanuts have released their oils and desired creaminess is reached. Use a higher or lower speed as needed, alternating if necessary depending on the consistency of the peanuts and the type of food processor.

Depending on the strength of the food processor and the type of peanuts, a little oil may be needed in order to keep things churning in the processor, but this is totally optional as the peanuts have plenty of oil of their own and adding too much liquid may result in runny peanut butter.

My food processor warms up a bit when I run it for so long, so sometimes my peanut butter is a little warm when it’s done. I just put it in the refrigerator for a while which cools it and makes a thicker spread.

Salt to taste. Serve with apple slices, celery sticks, crackers, etc.
